Okay after never listening to people that use fuel injector cleaner I must admit now after trying some I "think" it works. I used to complain my about little 2.7 only getting 19-20 MPG. Well, after prying open my rusty wallet and getting some Lucas Fule injector cleaner, I went to about 22 MPG. I always atributed the lack of mileage to the 9 million pounds of off road crap bolted to my truck. So I may have learned to listen to others.... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/baby.gif" alt="" />

My roomie's 97 Corolla has over 200K on it as of this summer; it goes in for a fuel injector cleaning and a going thru at the dealer here twice a year (once going into winter, and coming out). Car still getting 39 mpg.

Trust us, regular maintenance will make these things go forever, so take care of yer Toy!!

Is the injector cleaning done by the dealer better than the cleaning you get with the stuff from the parts store that you add to the gas tank? I just added cans of Chevron Pro-Gard injector cleaner to the gas tanks of my Tacoma and my wife's Sienna.

Yes; they plug directly into the fuel rail.
BTW, you can also pull your injectors to send them off to be refurbished and rematched, to include your CS injector. Becoming a common thing with these older trucks.

Was the bump in MPG just for that tank or did it continue to stay up? I've always noticed a bump in mileage for the one tank with the cleaner in it and then it drops back to normal.

Its prolly similar to the mpg boost when adding acetone which is a good cleaner within itself. Toyota sells a small can of cleaner that you add to about 1/4 tank of gas. They swear by it and I use it once a year. Its extremely concentrated and as far as I know thats how they clean the injectors short of pulling them and sending them out to be electrosonically cleaned.

No, the local dealer connects directly to the fuel rail and runs BG products through the system. Several chemicals, and a BG machine too. Very effective.

I have never ordered from these guys but I think they sell what you want.

Here is the BG website.

You could call them and see if they would sell you a cleaning system. If not they have a shop finder were someone could do it for you.
