You used the stock cross member with out the drop brackets right? I've got a stock one I'll clearance if it means loosing the brackets.

Also, did you have to clearance the lower control arms? It looked like there was enough room to, very carefully, clearance it in place if it's a problem.

I haven't gotten around to putting my crossmember back on yet. Hope my frame don't fold in half. I just thought that crossmember looks low, it might just be the picture though. I would play around with it and the stock one and see if you can gain any clearance though.

I didn't have to clearance the arm, Joe said that 1.5" was as much a drop as you can do without any clearancing. The cv boot does look close to rubbing on the lower balljoint bolts, but I don't think it does. If so, I would just replace them with carriage bolts.

That's actually good to hear. I took mine off last night, and I was hoping it would be OK for a few days with out it. I started notching the stock cross member, and it looks like I can make it clear with out the brackets. I'll post some pics of the modification when I get done.

I finally got around to clearancing the stock cross member. I had to take out one chunk to clear the diff, and one so the driveshaft wouold spin. A little while with the cutting and grinding wheels and I ended up with this

Removing that much material had me a bit worried about strength, so I welded a 3/16" plate to the bottom

The imptovement over the Calmini "plow" is subtantial.

I'm finishing the write-up now. Should have it up soon.

Good work <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> I knew that Calmini one hung way down.

But whats that googly looking bar connected to your a-arms and your frame? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

You must be talking about the factory flex limiter <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

Did you have to clearance the inside of the LCAs?

I did not clearance the LCAs. According to Joe Darlington, the 1.5" drop is the most that can be accomplished with out the clearancing. That said, I have not fully flexed the suspension yet. The possible issue would be at full compression. I don't think it should be a problem.

Does the drop diff kit fit a 2000 trooper?

I don't know if they've been installed on a Trooper yet.

TroopMac installed a set on his 93 Trooper. But he is no longer on the wire. He sold out to Jeep. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/barf.gif" alt="" /> Don't know about a 2000.

Trooper has been sold!
