<img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" /> raise hood, read label on underside of hood, follow directions <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

If your label is too crusty to read, let me know <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

I bought a haynes manual last night too just so I would have one, and that is about what it said for the fireing order! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

"Remove Distributor Cap, note and remember where wires are going" <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

Glad I didn't spend the money on that just for that, since I already had completed the tuneup, I just wanted something on hand for quick lookups.

Anyway, thanks for the lookup, not sure if my hood sticker is there or not (I think it is there, at least the one for my belt is), but I'll let you know. Thanks again! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

PS
Read your post in Smiley's thread, looks like you and the family had some fun last night! Even though it sounded like alot of work getting unstuck, it's the family memories that count! Sounded like a fun excursion! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

Body Damage is Cool
To adjust the timing on the GM TBI setup you first must disconnect the ESC (Electronic Spark Control) wire.

It's located in the center console, usually you'll find it under the small tray in the forward part of the console. It's the only wire in there that has an inline quick-disconnect.

Just unplug and you'll be able to check and adjust the timing. BTW stock timing is 10 deg BTDC but your 2.8 will run a bit better with the timing adjusted to around 14 deg or so.

You'll get a 'check engine' lite while the ESC wire is disconnected, but no problem it'll go away when you reconnect the wire. The trouble code for the ESC circuit will be logged into your ECM for a while so don't get worried about that if you check for trouble codes and see that one.

Your fast idle problem could be an issue with minimum air setting or TPS voltage so you might want to review the procedure for that:

Yeah it helps a bunch thanks! However, to actually adjust the timing I am going to need a programmer to plug into that connector?

No, you need a timing light and a wrench to loosen the distrbutor hold down so it can be adjusted.

You may also need one of Randii's double jointed midgets to get the wrench on the distributor tie-down bolt.

That is what I was thinking when I took a look, lol.

Still need to get a timing light, my dad and I share a shop and they just built a new house with the shop right at there house. Unfortuneatly his toolset is the one with the timing light and he already has it all packed up for the move. So it might be a week or so for them to get moved in to the new house and him to get that light unpacked, lol. But it will be well worth the wait as we will have a useable lift again!
Anyway, until then I will pray for a double jointed midget to appear the day I need him. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shiner.gif" alt="" />
