And why did you decide to go with the 4.3?And why did you stop there?Would the chevy v8 be overkill?Just curious do to the fact that the bolt pattern for the 4.3 and 305 and 350 are all the same.Lets here some opinions guys.

No one has done a V8 that didn't require cutting up front. The 4.3 will fit. There's probably around half a dozen, maybe a little more, who have done it. Not all are overly active on the board. But they are out there.

the 4.3 really doesnt appeal that much to me.Basicly your saying the front clip would have to be extended on the truck to account for the two extra cylinders on the v8.sounds pretty doable.Not saying im trying it or anything just like the idea of it.

350 will fit, but will need the radiator support modified to move the radiator, and condensor foward.

I kinda wish I would have gone ahead with the 350 vortec motor, 4l60E...:)

Trust me.. We are all very aware of SBC/BBC 90 degree interchange, and have done the research necessary to decide the best option for us. We are kinda an "outlaw" group here though. Not blinded by total brand loyalty.... just do what we feel to make our trucks "better"

4.3 TBI is a modest 200 HP, and 250 ftlbs. I think thats adequate for a raider. BUT.......... Put 35's on there, bigger axles.... and you start having thoughts of 5.7 Vortec motors.

109 Hp upped to 200 or so HP. Imporoved Gearing, Strength upgrades. grunt grunt grunt.

I've seen pics and web sites on about 3 of the V8 Monteros. None here. I noticed them while surfing around and did not bookmark anything. I do remember that all three were hack jobs. Very little on the tech side and something I wouldn't want to drive.

The 4.3L in Landraiders rig is neatly done and looks like it could have been stock. All weatherpack termimals ect. Very nice job.
