Why not just build up the 3L. Its plenty capable of 200HP. there are sooooo many just sitting in junkyards they are verry available. Some good pistons, rods and everyone lover a good head job.

I dated a girl with a 98 blazer and she put two tranys and an engine in the thing.
I just dont get the swoping to a chevy. lety them burn.

You baught a dodge/mitsu and thats the way it should be. Species cant breed with other species. Thats how the car gods intended it. You will all rot in hell for your sins against nature.

well the reason for the swap wasnt for power. Its purely for the sounds of the engine. You can build the hell out of six banger and it still will never cackle like an 8.Its just all wrong. As far as breeding.Well Since I am a car god I have said its ok.Let your cars fornicate lol.

right...

I ain't Baught Nothin!!!! My truck was given to me man. Want to know why.. it had a POS 2.6 in it that had spun bearings, had carb trouble, thrown balance shafts, and the list goes on.

First off... Not everyone here has a truck with a 3.0 in it. AND even if it Might be plenty capable of 200HP... it still has crappy gearing in the transfer case, is hard to work on, is expensive to work on.

When my 4.3 dicides to spit out a water pump it costs 12.99 at any autoparts store on earth.

I know and understand in great detail the workings of this motor, and drivetrain in general.

The wires are solid colors with stripes. Reds are all +'s and blacks are all -'s.... No stupid speckles. No black wires being hot leads.

No mystery boxes scattered around the engine compartment,
No Miles of vacuum lines to dryrot, and fail

What I have is a totally stock, Cheap to fix, run upside down, powerful motor that gives me absolutly 0 problems, and always runs good.
And I can garuntee you that I did this swap for less $ than you can have a 3.0 rebuilt for. INCLUDING the cost of the motor, trans, transfer case.

I can do pretty much whatever I want to with my cars and trucks, and as far as I am concerned, the automotive god have smiled upon me for being capable of building a truck that suits my needs on a budget with otherwise disused car organs.

...Speaking of sins against nature..... hahah nevermind.

Stick Your Head Under The Hood Of A 2.6 And Tell Me You Want To Mess With Those Vacum Lines. Its Sick. I Takes A Messed Up Mind To Create A Mess Like That Off The Showroom Floor. But Mine Is A Good Truck A Very Good Truck.

I agree with you 100%
The saying is "4WD's are built not bought".
If I had had a V6 instead of the pathetic carborated 2.6,
I probably would have left it alone. But after blowing 2 of the 2.6's , I decided to switch not fight. Now I have a Dodge with a "heart of stone".
I tried to Dodge it but that did not work.
So I Ram'd it and it still did not work.
Now I Chev it and it works.

well to each his own.

It does sound like a pretty sick setup and sounds like it makes one serious rig.

I have seen under the hood of the 2.6 and its why i held out so long for a 6. You all make verry good arguments and i gues you are right about sticking with what you know. As for me thats.... well im new to building offroad vehicles so not much. But if i can dream it i can build it.

V8's break things. If you have the 9" diffs. you will be OK. Stick with the TBI system and 700R4 not the electronic tranny and Tcase--no neutral. When I feel the need for the sound of a V8, I just follow behind one.
