We unlucky enough to cop the 3Y and 4Y engines in our Hilux from about 84 up to at least 91....
I had a 84 X-tra cab Hilux, 3Y (2.0Lt) with 31" BFG's, and it was a slug......used to turn the AC off to get up hills....Dunno about 3YE
4Y was used later (88-91) in 4-runners and Hilux..The injected series got some good reports when engine mods were carried out...
