Especially without someone with experience around to advise you, you will find yourself doing a lot of second guessing as to whether its correct or not. Best advice I can give you is search many different sites online and mind as many pictures of gear patterns as you can. understand whats right and wrong with each. The more exposure you can get to this, the better off you'll be.
