I think toyota went down hill on this 05 tacoma. People bought the tacoma because it was a compact pickup. Not anymore its not, its as big as are friend the Tundra.

We bought a '05 DC precisely because it IS larger, more powerful, and a heck of a lot more comfortable for rear passengers than the earlier model. The differnce in width is only a few inches - and quite frankly, I've not seen any basicly stock (key word - stock) rigs in places where it would matter. Our's has been "over the hill and thru the woods" quite a bit this summer on fishing trips - some to pretty remote lakes/ponds, and has done just fine.

Just so's ya know, We own three Toy's, my BPOS SAS'd '87, a TRD '98 ExtCab Taco, and the TRD '05. Of the three, I'd rather drive the '05 hands down for 95% of the "normal" wheelin' we do.

Well said. I dont know why people in the 4x4 forums cant cope with it. I bought it for the size also. Im 6'3" 260 pounds. I would never be comfortable in a reg cab pre 05. Im also happy with the 165hp 4cyl. Its got some pep to pass people on the hyw <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" /> that rocks
