I've been thinkin alot on the upper cage structure, tryin to think of ways to keep the trooper lines and still look good. Problem is tubing just doesn't give the shape of a roof as well as sheetmetal and if you run it too square it just looks like ya got lazy with your design. My other little plan is to actually collect up some amigo body panels so I can reskin it when I want to take it to shows and make it look pretty. The trooper body will be for wheelin and thrashin on.

Well todays work went slow, as I seem to have pulled a couple muscles in my back. Pushing a 400lb motorcycle 2 miles uphill will do that I guess. I still managed to get a lot done though. Drained all the fluids and started cleaning up the engine compartment in preparation to pull the motor. Tomorrow the torch comes out, and the bumper comes off. Then I plan on carefully sifting through all the wiring to make sure the motor fires back up again later.

BTW if anyone knows where I can find a wiring diagram for a 91 chevy 4.3 TBI I'd love to have it.






Yes I did chop the radiator support out, it makes it much easier to pull the motor and tranny as a unit, and since the body is gettin scrapped....

Wouldn't it have been much easier to just yank the body off to begin with , leaving the engine right in front of you on the frame?Thats what I plan to do when I do my body lift/engine swap , make it as easy as possible <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I'm using www.alldatadiy.com for wiring diagrams for my camaro engine harness. Its $25 a year. very detailed.

That might have been easier, but what do I lift the body with? Dont have a 2 post lift, or a forklift. Plus then I'd have to go through and disconnect all the brake lines, electrical steering linkage, body mounts, fuel lines, etc, and then bolt the body mounts back together after the motor is out since the frame is gettin scrapped too. I find it much easier to just disconnect everything from the motor, unbolt the mounts and lift it out the front with an engine hoist, which I do have. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Got a bit more destruction done today, mostly very careful destruction though. Torched the front bumper off for easier access to everything then carefully picked through the wiring. This is the part that worried me the most. When you pull a motor out of a stock vehicle you just grab everything, pick up a wiring diagram and start pulling out the stuff you dont need. In this case its a bit more difficult as I've got both an isuzu harness, and a chevy harness, and I have no idea what the original builder did to mate the two. This makes it a bit harder to go through, and more time consuming. I think I've got about 90% of the wiring pulled and labeled now and should have the drivetrain ready to pull by tomorrow afternoon.
