Roll Me Over
Well I'm happy to say that I actually got my CB working. I know it sounds so mundane, but its been a long time since I actually used a CB. Over 2 years since I used mine. I grabbed it out of the stinkbug and mounted it up in the buggy only to find that I couldn't get any sound out of it. After a number of tests I determined that the speaker was bad. I picked up an external speaker and that solved the problem. Best part is its really freakin loud so I should actually be able to hear it. I know its lame, but it kinda made my day.

You know... it's funny, but it's always the little things that make it just right <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Roll Me Over
Well today was a really happy day for me. Finally after years of drooling over all the blingy aftermarket axles out there I got to install my very own set of Warn alloys and CTM joints. To make it even better I picked up my U-joints directly from CTM Racing and the owner, Jack Graef, was cool enough to give me a tour and show how they were made. I started a separate thread on that here:

And heres the pics of my new axles and U-joints.

Now I can really thrash on the buggy <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

what was the deciding factor on the warns over, say, ctm shafts or superior, yukon, alloy usa, etc?

Actually I didn't get CTM shafts, they are Warns. The joints however are from CTM. Reasons being, well CTM stuff costs a lot, and though I'm sure Jack would build them for me, generally he doesn't do shafts for 44s, just 60s as most people would rather upgrade to a 60 rather than spend $2k+ for D44 axle shafts. Also I had some contacts at warn that helped out a bit. From what I've seen Warn and superior are about even as the top 44 axle makers. For the buggy I would have done either, the price decided it for me. I plan on getting a set of Yukons for the amigo as it will be seeing much lighter wheeling and you simply cant beat their price.

cool. The yuk's definatley have a good bang for the buck, from what I read/hear. I'm looking pretty hard at alloy usa's too, mostly because of their awesome warranty.

oh, also, will you be running hubs or flanges on the buggy?

That mostly depends on what I'll be running. For moab I'll probably be running hubs most of the time because there are a lot of long fast dirt roads (like the pritchett exit) and I'd rather not have the front driveline spinning. For most of the wheeling I do I'll probably throw the flanges in though, as there aren't a ton of long fast runs.
