MEààà for having friends like you guys, whoÆll steer me in the right direction
When the time finally comes for my SAS, I already have First Dibs on a D-44 out of a local Wagoneer û so itÆs not like my heart is broken over this.
But apparently I really need to improve my axle identification skills!
Given what IÆve learned - it looks like I need to have a little talk with my friend Paul, and (*politely*) inform him that his desired figure for the whole rig is perhaps a wee-bit steep.
I didnÆt get to see him when I was there yesterday, checking on the gear ratio - but hopefully, when I do see him - after informing him that the front isnÆt a D-60, and that the gear ratio is just 4.10 (and possibly so is the rear), maybe heÆll budge from his asking price of 2-Grand.
And I think IÆd also better tell him û if he should choose to build this thing up û that IÆm probably in-over-my-head à Honestly, I would really feel a whole lot more comfortable if I learned how to do a cross-over steering conversion on *my* rig, rather than on someone elseÆs û especially one thatÆs just gonna end-up being sold (and potentially without even doing any field testing to get the kinks worked-out! )
I really donÆt want to be responsible (not even partly!) for someone else ending-up getting stuck with a bunch of mechanical problems û or worse. --- At least if itÆs on mine IÆll know the risks upfront - and I wonÆt be endangering anyone but me.
Thanks all!
