I was freakin' when I had to start paying $40 per tank when the price of gas was just beginning to creep up. Today, I passed the $50 mark for a fillup. That's an increase of about $15 per tank. I'm just in shock. I fill up almost twice a week. At this rate, I'll be sinking almost $400 per month just for my vehicle. I know people in other parts of the world pay more, but I just had to vent, cause I'm freakin' out!!!

Welcome to my world It costs me 75-80 to fill up my tank , and the price just keeps climbing. Most of it is taxes too , almost 60 cents a litre in taxes.

My truck used to be my daily driver until about 2 years ago when the price of gas started to hit $1.80's. I decided to buy a Focus ZX3 that gets 33 mpg for the daily commute.

If not for poor resale value + very high miles(180K+) + too much investment(lockers etc) on this truck, I am tempted to just let her go She just sucks(gas) too much.

1.80 WOW thats cheap!!! I havnt seen 1.80 anything in a long time. 2.63 gallon for regular. Cost about 70+ dollars to fill my E250 service van. Luckily my isuzu(on topic) sits all week.

oops sorry, just read and you said 2 YEARS ago.

I just put 17 gallons in my '98 Rodeo this morning. Even with my discount (bought from a grocery store that offers a cheaper price to discount card holders) it cost me $42 and change.

Ouch...

I love my truck, but that kills me. Luckily I don't have to do that but once every two weeks or so. I only put about 600 miles on my vehicle per month, so I only have to buy about two tanks every month.

'98 Rodeo, Ranchos, OME 912s, General Grabber AT2 265/70/16s on steelies, Superwinch hubs, G80 code, Pioneer HU... two car seats and cracker crumbs.

Before I started my SAS, I bought a second daily driver; a 93 Ford Probe GT. Paid $2000, and at 27mpg, it will have paid for itself in under a year. Unfortunatly, my comute is about seventy miles one way. I have to admit, that Probe is a nice little car (especially for the price I paid). Feels good to drive something that goes when you press the skinny pedal.

Ha!

*cough*

Diesel=$2.98/gal

A "fillup" comes out to about $100.

When I bought my truck, diesel was somewhere in the range of $1.28/gal (3 years ago).

Needless to say, I don't "fillup" very often.

Roll Me Over
If it makes you feel better I just got back from a trip to Vernal, UT. We were driving a 40' diesel pusher coach towing a 35' trailer gettin about 8mpg. Coach has a 100 gallon tank, diesel is runnin a bit over $3 a gallon around here.....I'm sure you can figure out the math. Yes there is a reason I've got a 500cc motorcycle for commuting. BTW now would be a great time to invest in motorcycle stocks. Just attended my first MSF class tonight and more than half the people there were buying bikes to offset their high fuel costs.

Gas in Belingham...$2.89 for the cheap stuff. So I bought an Isuzu Integra 3 months ago. Thats right Isuzu Integra. (Acura SLX= Isuzu Trooper, Isuzu Rodeo= Honda Passport, Isuzu Oasis= Honda Odessy, so...Acura Integra in my driveway makes it an Isuzu )

Anyways worst tank 32mpg, best tank 38mpg. Paid $2100 for it with 116k. I drive 75 miles a day round trip. I have already saved $600 bucks, over my 17 mpg Trooper, God rest her soul

1995 Trooper 3.2 single, 5 speed, OME 912's, T-bar crank, G80, 285 M/T's, custom dents, random rust

1999 Trooper 3.5, auto, TOD, K&N, tint (wife's car can't improve it)

I actually saw a car called a FORTWO driving in South Saint Louis about a month ago. It was cool, and strange looking, and have Vancouver plates. So he was either lost, or just visiting. Anyway, I just had to check into it. Apparently not here in the States yet. But it would be great with the price of gas.
