The Bosch platinums were too hot for my truck, so went back to NGK's.

I happen to be a GM tech, and I can tell you the irridium plugs absolutely ROCK!

They last for just about forever and in an application like any LS1 powered car they seriously increase plug life (compared to old style plugs). 100K miles+. Very nice when you're talking about any F-body (Camaro/Firebird). I hate changing plugs on those.

Irridium plugs come stock from the factory on nearly all GM products now. If you do to your local GM dealer that's what they'll give you over the counter. I think they are either Densos or NGKs.

Thanks for that info. I think they're Denso. b/c that's what I think* we pulled out of his LS1. So for him it's a deffinate go. but for my 3.0v6 i'm not sure I can justify buying them ya know... I'd go NGK, not denso. NGK's have a larger tip which last longer. .6mm compare to .4mm if I recall. so for lasting.. the NGK say it's the best of both worlds.

too hot of a plug will make your engine ping.

you can tell by how the plug looks also If i recall correctly. when I had my '89 Vette and was tuning the plugs I was using a Scanner that counted "knock counts". I ended up going with a NGK V groove 2 steps colder.. probly could have gone colder, but stopped testing there. You wanna go as cold as you can until it fouls up, then 1 hotter. you wanna be 1 heat range from fouling. but for most daily driven applications 1 or 2 steps colder is fine.
