Books say 17/21 for an auto 3.4. We just took ours to GA and got 22-24mpg on the way up. Used Cruise and drove around 65mph-70mph. Wondering what other get intown & highway.

12-14 if I'm lucky. 33" tires + 4.88 gears + rack on top with lights and tire = crappy mileage.

Highest yet is 27 mpg (on a Canadian gallon - 10% bigger than a US gallon). Supercharged '00 3.4L, stock tire size, easy highway driving.

I get 20-21 mpg on straight highway 65-75 mph. Combined city and highway is around 18.5 mpg. Not too bad, but my wife's 2001 Sienna 3.4 liter gets 27 mpg on the highway.

so i guess 22-24mpg doing 65-70mph is pretty decent for a stock 2wed V6 auto. It has 4.10 gears & the P265 16" tires. Has a roof rack, but I took the cross bars off, also took out the rear sunshade & hitch.

15 mpg on the highway cruising at 70mph. 33" tires, wife, baby, 2 medium sized dogs & trunk full of stuff.

Don't know what it get around town, but I know it's a lot worse. I seem to fill-up once a week. I drive to work 10 miles each way, 6 days a week.

dang, a lot of you guys are getting horrible milage. I'm not sure what ours is getting intown yet, but i'm guessing 16. We fill it up every week. I find it in town milage is very bad. Only way to get decent milage out of it is drive really easy and slow. 55-65 with cruise on. At 1 point I was thinking about doing a lift and some 32's, but that idea is out the window. no real point anyway with my rig.

Let me borrow it for a week... I'll let you know how many miles I got on a tank.

I am an expert at squeezing MPG out of a vehicle. I got 48 mpg out of one tank on our 97 Grand Caravan (45 mph on the highway sux, though), consistent 24 mpg out of a 2004 Chevy Venture at work (going 80 on the highway), 35 mpg out of a Stratus SXT at work (80 hwy as well), and 24 mpg out of my 87 4Runner (33's, 3" lift).

Contrary to popular belief, here is how to squeeze mieage out of any vehicle:

Accellerate to hwy speeds using 80-90% throttle... You want to start briskly, but not trip open loop mode in the computer.

Forget cruise control... Find the speed you want to go on flat ground, and make sure you don't move your foot. You will slow down going uphill, and speed up going down.

If you know you will be stopping soon, let off the gas as soon as resonably possible... Going 50 i nthe right lane of the interstate when you hit the ramp is fine (I wouldn't want to go any slower than that).

Fill up between 7-10am... Gas is more dense in the morning hours, so you will get more fuel per gallon than say, filling up at 8 pm. The morning hours will produce fuel at about 65* (in FL), and the evenings will pump 80* fuel. This can be as much as 10% more fuel held in your tank (for the same price). This alone can give you 5-10% more mpg (in your case, 2 mpg).

Try these, and see how it does. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />
