haha.

I was just wondering this and decided to drop by the forum and do a search.

I guess it was the $35 it took to fill the tank today $2.76
87 oct....

19.22 mpg highway on 125 mile drive (got 22 last shot after new brakes, bearing repack but may be a flook)

SACRiLEGE, i know. Did it to improve HWY handling and mpg while using it as daily driver, it worked!

19.22 mpg HWY
3.0 V6
265/75/15
89 lwb
lowered front 19" hub to fender
10W30 quaker state, 36 psi.

I have a 1986 two door Monty. If I fill the tank and go 60 mph, I will get 260 miles to the tankfull. But that is highway mileage. I think that is pretty average amongst rigs of my type.

How did you lower the front?
And did you lower the rear to maintain level ride ?

I lost a few MPG by going with 31's. I'm thinking of putting my 235's back on and driving 60mph

1996 Montero SR
3.5 V6
119,000 miles
32" tires 2.5" lift
20 gallon tank
Get about 310 miles on tank.
Front hubs always disconnected when not wheeling
Get average 16.5 MPG with about 70% highway
I drive granny to save a buck or two.

THIS WAS FIRURED WITH 10% ADDED AFTER CALCULATIONS DUE TO TIRE SIZE. SOMEWHERE IN THIS FORUM IT WAS MENTIONED TO ADD THAT FOR 32" TIRES.

I wish I had a more acutate way to measure but my speedo is not changed. Any better way of calculating fuel economy with bigger tires??????

same way I raised it during the winter, crank the torsion bars. But it's only 19" when I got the truck one side was 19.5" and the other was 20.25" I cranked them both up to 21" when I was using the truck just for kicks the ride was nice and firm and pretty level. Now with 19" it is definitely lower in the front than back but no problems so far. It rides great handles really nicely especially after new bushings and idler arm. Tires don't rub and I have 265/75/15.

PS
a local gas station is charging $3.79 a gal. WTF????

Ok who is going to figure out the best body angle for minimum wind resistance ?

My guess droppng the front end would hurt since the windshield would have a flatter angle. Level seems like the best bet to me.
