I've got about a 1 1/2 inch drop to the rear. It was accidental, but it looks ok. The headlamps really need to be aimed down a little though.

Kevin, u might have a good point since Clay is getting better mpg tham I am even w/bigger tires...But there is more wind resistance created by air flow through the grill than windshield. I think the increased drag on a lowered front may be produced by greater downward pressure over the body of the vehicle and consequently greater tire friction/vehicle weight. Which also accounts for it riding somewhat better than a hay wagon now.

A nose down tilt will also present more area.

Typicly more area gets you more drag.

There are a bunce of other factors but obvioulsy Clay is doing something right. I am curious what type of driving he is doing,is it mostly highway? How fast does he go? Tire brand and type, allignment settings etc.

New fuel economy for my truck is...

15.25 MPG on 91 unleaded fuel.

it was of time and the computer was throwing weird codes <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/zombie.gif" alt="" /> its still not awesome but it might also have something to do with Venezuelan gas quality. Way less regulations here <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/barf.gif" alt="" />.

1, miles traveled per tank= 172.74
2, gallons used= 11.3
3, engine size= 3.0 12V
4, tire size= 31"
5, year and model= 1997 Montero GL Dakar SWB
6, other mods that may affect fuel economy= I'm pretty sure it has a smaller muffler than it should.

With larger tires, you can go the same speed at a lower RPM. Would that help?

Depends on how much traffic you hit and how many hills. If I remember right Caracas is pretty hilly and traffic into and in the city can get very slow.

Is gas still prety cheap?

My 87 had been getting 13+ at best lately (spring before tranny went) on 31s. I put 33s on about two weeks ago and have gone through two tanks. One at 16+ and one at 16-. So I would say yes to your question, in my case at least. I wonder how that would pan out in a 2.6 NA, as the turbo has little trouble turning the bigger tires.

All of which has me really wanting to find out why I am/was getting 13MPG before. I should be able to get more like 16-17, which should then equate to close to 20 with the 33s. At that MPG, this thing could become my daily driver! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

BTW, all numbers are adjusted for the odo being off due to not upgraded for non-235s.
