It'll be noticeable. You don't have to pull it out. If the driveshaft is bolted onto the transmission like it is to the differential, then it's fixed. If not, then you've got a slip yoke. Don't know how hard it is. There was at least one thread around here showing how to do it. It looks daunting, but it might not be too bad.
