Jonathan,

The Isuzu transmissions are a little bit different when compared between gas and diesel models. The aluminum casings are different in that the gas transmission has the starter mounted on the passenger side, while the diesel transmission has the starter mounted on the driver side. Also, the internals (gears, bearings, forks, etc.) are the same no matter what engine you are dealing with. Now I do believe the gas transmission has different gear ratios than the diesel transmission, which could help or not. So when doing a diesel conversion make sure you at least have the diesel transmission case. The 2.2 TD engine makes 80 HP @ 4000 RPM and 125 FT LBS @ 2500 RPM. The 2.3 gas engine makes 96 HP @ 4600 RPM and 123 FT LBS @ 2600 RPM. I didn't want to interrupt on this reply, just want to try to provide help and info. Hope I was of some help and thanks.
