Moving the axle forward is the main reason for running rears up front. We built this set-up on a a buddies '92 SAS. By only running the rears up front(along w/x-over steering) and cutting the fenders allowed him to run 37 Krawlers, the rear we used Chevy 54" w/2" blocks and longer shackles. With this setup, his truck's entry height is just a little higher than my '90 with 4" IFS Susp. lift and 33's.
