Any one know were the vacuum line on the top of the fuel pressure regulator goes? Any one know what would happen if that vacuum line had a hole in it?

It looks like the vacuum line to my fuel pressure regulator had a hole worn in it from rubbing on an edge of the firewall so I would like to replace it but it just goes back between the engine and the firewall and it seams like I would have to pull the engine to replace the line.
