Getting the Wheeling Fever
95 Wrangler, 4 cyl, 5 spd. Oil pressure gauge doesn't register, so I figure either the gauge or the sending unit is bad.

Question 1, if the sending unit is bad, wouldn't the check engine light come on since no oil pressure is registering?

Question 2, is that the sending unit located right behind the alternator?

Thanks guys.

Don't worry about it! Most times when an engine loses it's oil pressure the driver does not see it on a guage anyway. WHat happens is the lifters collapse and the engine gets real LOUD! If your engine is as quiet as most forgetaboutit. I, personaly, would fix it. I would be heckeled by friends and neighbors if MY guages didn't work.
But I would have no problem driving a vehicle with no oil pressure guage.

The oil pressure sending unit is mounted right on top the oil filter. It screws into the filter housing and has 1 wire coming off. To test the gauge, just ground that wire. It should max the gauge out.
