Well, we buried him this morning. I was putting in a dry well, but hadnt finished it. It was in the right spot for where we wanted him to be so he went in. He got his favorite kong (the one we were playing with in the video), his black rubber football, a brand new tennis ball and a picture of the two of us on a trail in Colorado.
Patty is going to put some shadecloth on him on Thursday (her day off) and put some of her rock collection over him for protection.
Thanks for all your thoughts. Six years is too short a time to share with someone as wonderful as Loki was.

I am really sorry to hear about your loss. I know I am gonna miss my mutts when they go. Even though they can be a pain sometimes, I wouldn't wanna wheel without them.

Aw, hell, Kevin, that's horrible. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> Loki was a great dog, a good trail buddy, and a great friend -- your best friend. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> I definitely looked forward to seeing him whenever you came to Moab -- it was fun watching him grow up and become a better and better friend. The best thing about our dogs is how much they love us; the worst part is how short a time they can stay with us. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> I'm a little fuzzy on what happens after people pass on, and this ain't the right place for it, regardless, but I will speculate that when Loki made it to the other side, there was a friendly black muzzle on the other side to welcome him. I hope Gozar and Midnight, my boys, are helping him settle in. I'll remember Loki with a smile, and I'll be thinking of you, Kevin, hoping the best for you, Patty, and Guinness.
