Answer to where is the starter here. Likely you are hearing the Circuit Opening Relay click, that is normal, it always does so when you turn the key to the start position. It supplies power to the fuel pump while running the starter. That is a "good thing". Why do you hear it now and not normally? Because normally the starter would be cranking the engine over, masking the faint relay click. Now with no starter noise, you hear the click, but it is not the problem.
