Body Damage is Cool
Christmas came a little late this year and so i got a FAL 295 fan...

Ive got too many accessories wired into the fuse block inside the cab (wires are actually just wrapped around the buss fuses and into the block <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />)

Id like to wire all my accessories including my new fan into the fuse block in the engine compartment...where can i do this, which fuse would be suitable and what would be the best way to splice into the fuse block???

The fuse block in the engine compartment is very tight and it is not made to have extra circuits added to it.

I personally would run a new fuse block direct from the battery and wire your accessories to it. This way you can keep it neat and simple while also being able to fuse each device correctly. This will also help prevent electrical trouble in the future and make troubleshooting easier.

Check out places like Painless Perfomance for add-on fuse blocks that have ignition switched and constant power circuits.

I agree. Here's how I did it on my Runner...

[Linked Image]

I picked up mine from NAPA but http://www.12voltguy.com carries some similar ones.

I decided to go with a 7 fuse Painless kit...ordered from SummitRacing.com...

4 fuses are igntion hot, and 3 are full time hot...
my ignition hot switches will go to my fog lights, and transmission temperature gauge, as well as the new fan.

Question about the headlight relays, does this allow you do have the high beam and low bean filament of your headlights on when the high beams are on???

I didn't wire them that way (would that shorten bulb life?), but I suppose I could have. I just kept them same as stock. Its an upgraded wiring harness and relays, supposedly for better light output w/ stock bulbs (didn't notice a difference), and/or for higher than stock wattage bulbs if I decide to put those in later.

Another question, got the fans all prepped to go into the truck, just have to attach power, ground, and ignition hot wire...ill be wiring it to the Air Conditioner compressor so it will kick up when the AC is on...which wire signals the AC the positive or negative, FAL gives me the choice of either one, but not both...

Second, any good choices for tapping the ignition fuse or EFI fuse under the hood???

Progress so far...I followed Brew's setup and wired everything behind the shroud to keep it looking clean. I drilled 5 holes next to the VSC for the two positive and two negative 10 gauge wires and the 14 gauge ignition hotwire...

On the driver side of the fan shroud i drilled three more holes, 10 gauge wire to negative terminal, 10 gauge wire to the positive terminal, and 14 gauge wire to the ignition fuse , which will be wired with a painless fuse block during the install. What you see here took me about 1.5 hours...i expect the install will take just as long.
