Hi,

My 1991 LC drives, but it absolutely lacks power to accelerate. It seems it doesn't rev up over 2000 rmp when in drive (no problem to rev in neutral).

I replaced fuel filter, spark plugs & cables, checked compression. Now down to the feared vacuum system - guess what: most hoses don't show ANY vacuum at all!

Now - these vacuum tubes seem to run virtually everywhere throughout this engine - and I have no clue how to even start diagnosing. To start with: I don't even understand where the vacuum is created/generated. So: HELP!

I do have the Haynes and max ellery's manuals - but they do not try to give me the needed guidance. I can't even find the VSV valves and I have no clue how to replace the EGR valve. I searched this forum, but didn't find relevant matches.

My 1st question is: what is the likelyhood the vacuum system is cause for my lousy performance? (don't want to spend loads of time and money with only result a cleaner exhaust, but no extra power).

2nd: where can I find info on how to diagnose the vacuum system - preferably for the LC of course. (or is it better, easier to have this done by a car shop?)

Any help from experience is very much appreciated!

Thanks!!!
