I am in need of some help selecting some wheels for my 2000 trooper.
Because of the price of 16ö tires I wanted to switch to 15ö rims and tires. I checked with an online site and they are saying that the 15ö rims will not fit the 2000 trooper.
Has anyone tried to fit 15ö rims on a 98 and newer trooper? If so, was there any rubbing? What is the backspacing needed?
This information is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

I've seen some wheeling pics of a board members VX running the 15" 1G 'snowflake' rims. VX has the same front brakes as your Trooper so it at least clears the calipers.
those rims are 7" wide, neutral bs(0").

Not sure of the difference between a 92 and 2000. But my 92 came with 16" originally. I changed to 15x10's. And you need a minumum of 3 1/2" backspacing to clear the rear caliper. It is larger due to the emergency brake components. Hope this helps.

Hey, thanks for the information. It's making my decision much easier.
I have to choose between: 33x12.50x15 285x75x16 = (33x11.22x16)
If I order the 15 I would be saving about 100.00 dollars but might run into problems of rubbing somewhere. They specifically told me, since itÆs not the rims that the Trooper came with; there are no returns or exchanges.
IÆm contemplating going with the safe order of 285x75x16. That leads me to a second question. The Trooper came with 7ö rims, would there be any problems installing an 11.22-inch wide tire on a 7ö rim? (IÆm thinking of buying a fifth tire to put in the original spare rim).
Thanks again,
Jaime

Go with the 285s, and you can use your factory 16x7 wheels.
You going to Clayton Sept. 24-25?

I went with the 285/75/16 Tires with 16x8 rims. IÆm hoping that the tires and rim donÆt take too long.
ItÆs almost like Christmas! I have been patiently waiting to get all these things for the Trooper. Finally I can afford them.
Thanks for all your help.

wider 15" tires will eat more gas due to more friction and more weight. With the current gas prices, the $100 advantage will evaporate in a week of wheeling go with narrower 16" tires.

ok, i finally had the chance to install the Pro Comp MT 285/75R16 tires on the Trooper. I took it for a spin and forgot the digital camara. I took this picture with the phone, sorry for the bad quality on the picture. ![[Linked Image]](http://www.geocities.com/jlanderos99/trooper.jpg)

Here is a better picture of the Trooper with the new wheels on: With the new tires I can make a full turn of the wheel while going forward and the tires will not rub. But as soon as I throw it in reverse the front driver side tire will rub on the plastic skirt around the wheel well? It happens on the lower wheel well closest to the driver door. Is anybody experiencing this same problem? ItÆs just the wheel lugs making minor contact with the plastic, but it sound loud. My concern is why only while IÆm backing out? Thanks,
