I'm finally getting to the point that I will need to trim the rear fenders for some extra room. (35" PJ's)

I was planning on doing a 2" trim untill I actually looked at it and realized just how close the gas door is to the fender lip.

SO what has everyone else done? (if any trimming)
I'm also looking at fender flares to hide the cut but the name brands are way too much $$$ for me. Also looking for ideas for the front as well once trimmed how to fill the gap and so on.
