Did the engine harness today. You weren't kidding; I almost yanked the rear end electricals without even thinking about it. I forced myself to slow down and follow every bundle until I was sure then split them open and sorted the wires. The resultant mess is in a box with the ECU if anyone wants it. The only thing I wasn't sure about was the fuse panel under the hood. It has eight fuses in it, two of which are EEC and Fuel. Am I right in guessing I can keep those?

All that remains for the 2.9l is to unbolt it and the tranny and yank it. As soon as the Lincoln arrives today, we're very likely going to do that, then get the electricals from the Lincoln out, hopefully minimizing the work to be done when we do whatever with the V6 and get it off the stand to make room for the 302. I just had another look at the Lincoln yesterday (Forgot to look at the engine and tranny numbers. Silly of me, I know.) and it looks like the front and rear main seals are leaky. I also have some concerns about the driver's side valve cover gasket, but I plan on replacing the valve covers for light weight sheet aluminum ones anyway. The old lady still hasn't gotten home with the stupid camera, so pics will still have to wait.

Also, I took the time to glance at the under carriage. The rear driveshaft looks like hell. Is there a simpler alternaive to having one made? I'd like to get a tougher one than the GKN style one that's there. I was thinking of using a piece of 1.5x1.5x.25 inserted into a piece of 2x2x.25 for a slip joint and welding the yokes onto that. It won't be traveling faster than 50 or 55 anyway. Any remarks?

Also, I discivered that the front body mounts are knackered. Gonna have to replace those, too. Which brings me to my next question: I know a lot of guys try and keep as much factory stuff, engineering-wise, for safety reasons. Is there a line I don't want to cross? Like using the stock steering knuckles and other hardware for a bad crossover steering set-up. I'd like to use stock mounting brackets for those mounts, if I can. I also need to lift the body two inches to make room for the new mill and tranny. Can I use HDPE stock (3" cylinder cut at 3" and bored for the hardware) for the mounts instead of buying something from Prothane or Energy Suspension or whomever? I have some laying around and was wondering.

Thanks again, guys. I appreciate all the help you've given me so far and I hope I'm not straining my welcome.

you may not need the under hood fuse box you could use the one outta the donor, since it is already set up for the lincoln's wiring harness but i wouldn't pull it out yet until you can be sure about the one in the lincoln,
are you using the brakes from the bronco if so you might wanna make sure you didn't pull the wires from the antilock sh*t that could hurt sorry i didn't think of that sooner, l8er

I'm pretty sure I left all that in there, the ABS wiring. The underhood fuse box is disconnected, but I've left it on the wheel well just the same.

I'm not even sure this thing came with ABS. Ah, well. I plan on upgrading the brakes anyway with parts stolen from a Mustang for the rear conversion and some bigger disks and calipers in the front. But that's down the road a ways.
