Nice score there. That 3.4 should have a little more juice than the 2.3 and 2.6s you are used to huh

Just wondering, how many troopers is this now that you have owned?

This makes my 4th trooper.

I'm thinking about those 37" trxus, and also the new maxxis creepy crawlers. but a good used set would fine for now. got my eye on some used 36" TSL's and some used 37" MT claws nearby, but we'll see what happens.

the 3.4 has a mid-range cam (1500-4500 rpm) a 305 throttle body and the intake is bored to match, big open air cleaner (which I may switch to a sealed air cleaner and snorkel), 2.5" exhaust (i'm pretty sure, or if not, it will). I'm going to switch to an electric fan, so that may unleash a couple of ponies on top of everything else.

well I found a good deal on a waggy d44, so I'm going to go with it. It's already set up with 5.38's, detroit, crossover steering, spare shafts, etc. Still trying to find a trailer to get everything from raleigh, but hopefully it will be soon. Sucks working 60 hours/week--I need to find a 9-5 w/ weekends off!! I should've had the truck half built by now

I'll probably leave the axle as is, but I'd like to step up to alloy shafts and heavy duty u-joints sometime in the future.

Since the axle is already setup SOA, and I want to keep the lift down as much as possible, I will try to run a fairly flat spring and put the spring hanger at the point in the frame where it slopes upward and run the shackle up front.

Hopefully I will have some pics to share sometime soon

yeah he doesnt have any time right now and the thing does need a little money and a couple of weekends of work to get it back on the road safely.

I may trade it to my brother for his 90 2.8 rig and him paying for the axle. I could find another 3.4 or just do the rings and pop in a cam--its going to be geared low enough that it shouldnt be muchof a problem. see, my bro has a new baby and wants to be able to carry him around in the rig. his troop has no AC and not even a heater right now, so it could work out good for him. we'll see if his wife will allow and go from there.

either way, Matt you will be getting a few calls.

took delivery today this thing will GO! and some better news is that I think the caliper is locking up and it may not be a bad wheel bearing; but I will find out tomorrow or tuesday when I have some time to look into it. I have a bin full of old parts that may have a good caliper in it and a jug of brake juice to test that theory. I got a dozen quarts of oil to drain and fill the engine, tranny and case. Hopefully it will calm the trans whining down. it sounds like an RC car right now lol

I have enough stuff laying around to get it 1/2 way built if I want to just need to decide if I want to wait to link the rear, run a 2nd case, etc. It is begging me to plug in the powertools...

Matt, I will be calling you soon about a piece of tube for a drag link, and an end with the 'Zu pitman taper.

If things go well, I will also have a set of 38.5" hawgs to groove up and mount on some 15x8 2" backspaced steelies

I didnt get the 38's so I'm still looking for some tars

but I found an old thing I did in paintbrush and decided to try out a design idea...

[Linked Image]

I want to keep the cabin area enclosed so I can enjoy the power windows, AC and stuff, and just keep all my tools and junk in a box (w/ the spare on top) in the tubed area. I'm thinking a pickup-like sliding window in the back...

oh, and blue was already there, but it would probably stay burgundy if I'm lazy, or some flat tan color if I paint it.

oh no doubt we have the technology... Eric do you know who did the body work on that dude stone's old 4runner? It was pretty clean. I want to do most of the work, but I want everything to at least be water-tight
