just got off the phone with Toyota 800#. They said an alignment is covered. There are instructions to the dealer to provide a full front alignment if needed or a toe adjustment at the minimum.

hey, i've just call toyota canada & got confirmed that i fall under the recall campaign. Sweet. Question is, does it come with a free alignment too? That would be great as I haven't had one for a over a year! (Hope they'll figure things out with the 32's, balljoint spacers & cranked torsion bars..."most importantly, hope they won't reset the front end back to the stock height...")

WHAT A PITA!!! Not that I'm really after the free alignment or the relay rod, I went to the dealer today drop off the truck & they phoned me 3.5hrs later saying that it's not under the recall campaign. Colis!!! I've phoned Toyota Canada the other day & they said "Yes", but a "NO" at the dealership. So wasted half a day for nothing...

But i'm glad my relay rod is "safe" though.

Call again & now Toyota Canada says it's "NOT". I guess there must be some miscommunication somewhere.

Ok not to sound stupid or anything but does anyone know exactly where it is suppose to crack at?
Also this could be totally unrelated but if I back-up and turn towards the driver side I hear a thunk coming from the passanger side of my truck.('90 Toy 4x4)Could this be the steering rod flexing?
I have already replaced the Idler arm and the lower ball joint so I dont think it is that unless the parts I used suck.
I dont remember what brand I used.

I breaks right by the pitman arm, about 2-3inches off. They claim to only have 5 or so cases, and only on T100's, But I work for toyota and i've personally seen 2 break, so they have to have had more than that. BTW I also was looking at a paper (from Toyota of course) saying that in the northern states (im in so-cal) they can replace your tie rods, and sleeves if they are rusted out. All free of course. So check with them before you buy some.

I had my pickup serviced under the recall. All I can say is that this is a great deal. I got completely new tie rods and steering connecting pieces. Plus a free alignment (I was due). I felt so good, I even had them replace my split CV boot.

I'm very impressed that Toyota is doing this for vehicles that are 10.5 years old at their youngest.

Roll Me Over
I finally got around to going by the dealer last Friday to order some parts and check on truck. The service counter was pretty shocked when they saw my broken one. I didn't have time to have it done Sat., I should have time later in the week.

It is good to here that they replace the entire linkage(saves them hourly labor), the components on the '91 rig I am rebuilding are pretty well shot.

could this be the cause of why at full lock or close to it the steering is hittign somewhere on the frame causing a nasty grinding noise? Mines been doing that for like 2 years now....maybe this will get a lot of stuff refreshed up front for me for free. I'll call em tomorrow and see what they say.
