Now that's some home-spun loyalty, man. The good ones deserve a spot in memory. Thanks for the reminder...Cal

Don't know yet. I lready posted a thread on our club site about parting it out and it would appear that I'm not going to go that way. I might sell it and get a really good used pick up or a Jeep for my daughter (she had that idea long ago), or it may just sit (I doubt the last one). My alt just went out on it as well today.

Welcome to the dark side, I went there a couple months ago, although you jumped in head first - 05 Rubicon Unlimited-$$$ - I really wish I could afford a Rubi Unlimited. Listed $31,800............Got it at employee price $25, 4??.00 The sad part is you would think when you buy a rig that in it's stock form has a 4 to 1 transfer case, a incredably low 1st gear, 4:11 R & P, Lockers front and rear, and D44's front and rear that you would be satisfied. Nope, I already have about $5,000.00 grand in mods spent in my head. It never bloody ends

I didn't realize they were making the stretch version (I'm old--it's the scrambler to me) in the Rubicon model. Cool.
I've you're getting it primarily for it's 4x4 capability, why did you go with the longer wheelbase version?
The good news is (for the longer run) there's rumors Jeep is finally going to replace that 4.0 they've had for years. Diesel and a DOHC (or both) are being tossed about; basicly something more caught up with 1980's technology. (non-pushrod)
Upside: more power, probably torque, and better gas mileage in a smaller (lighter) engine. Downside: There's a big mod/aftermarket for the current engine and spare parts galore.
Of course, diesel would be great.
I'm too lazy (and on too slow a connection) to go through Jeeps graphics/flash intensive site--are they using the 4.0 on the Unlimited's, or did they drop a different engine in there?
[color:"white"]? 04 Rodeo DI ?[/color] 75k mi, body damage on the 1st weekend I got it.

If only Isuzu offered a Rubicon (or Moab Zuzoo ) package on new rodeos and amigos...that and if they like still had dealerships in the U.S.

You know there are obstacles that short wheel base is better on and then there are those that long wheel base are better on. I prefer wheel bases towards the longer side. It has far more storage space as well. Plus I think that it looks better than the standard wheel base. Then again I was a Scrambler fan way before it became the cool rig. As for power, it has the 4.0........can you upgrade it? Yes, I just got done reading an article where they can squeeze darn near 385 horses out of a 4.0 Why though? I just don't get why folks want to stuff some big 8 cylinder engine in their rock crawler. it's all about keeping it light and most importantly gearing. Then there is to much gearing. Sometimes to super low is to low. Believe me this baby got some gearing. 4Low in first gear is pretty much useless other than flat surfaces. It so freaking low I can get out go around the vehicle and climb in the passenger seat. I haven't tried it but I would bet that I could low-crawl quicker than the rig moves. As for being sorry for "big red"...don't I couldn't be happier. You know you truely don't realize how badly beatin up a rig is until you get a new one and you have to move the old one around the drive way periodically. My Passport is just flatout worn out and it just makes absolutely no financial sense to get it back to street/trail capable. It would just cost far to much. It served me well though for 10 years and 200,000 miles. Cost me a huge amount of money to keep it running but it was there......well most of the time anyway. New idea's for personalized plate.........ZUBICON, DRKSIDE, ZUKEYPR, ?????????????????

Congratulations on the new Rubicon Unlimited. Very nice vehicle right from the factory . If I where in the market I would be looking very hard at the same vehicle. Now if they just had this (based on the Rubicon version) with a 6cyl turbo diesel. Brute
