I have a question about the clutch in my 91 truck. How much do I need to do to my 2WD Toyota reg cab pick-up? The clutch slips in 4th and 5th if I get on it hard after the clutch is engaged. I adjusted the clutch in the cab near the pedal and this helped reduce the slipping. I bled the clutch on 3 different occasions with new fluid. A week after each bleed the fluid is dirty again. I'm thinking it needs a new clutch, but why is the fluid dirty? Do I need to replace the clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder as well? If I do the clutch this fall I think the flywheel needs to be resurfaced and maybe a new rear main seal put in on the engine. Any advice is appreciated.

You have 2 separat eproblems here...

The dirty fluid just means the entire system needs a flush. Pop open the bleeder, and let the fluid run out, while constantly topping it off in the master cylinder. Sela it up, pump it a few times, and repeat. When completed, close the bleeder valve, make sure the fluid is topped off, and you should be good.

The slippage is just your old clutch wearing out. Time for a new one.

You might just want to nip everything in the bud all at once. Replace the master, slave, and rubber line for the clutch. Then replace the clutch. It will all be brand new then...

Yeah, I thought that bleeding it down, filling with new fluid and then bleeding until it was clear would take care of it. I have done this 3 times now and even though the fluid is clear in the reservoir and at the bleeder valve, when I am finished, it is still getting dirty somehow during regular use. I guess I just need to replace everything. I am almost finished returning my T100 to stock height and then I can work on the clutch in the 91. Thanks.
