3 Row Radiator Fitment Question #646062 09/11/05 06:41 PM

My 83' stock radiator has been weeping lately, first from the bottom hose outlet (JB weld fixed that), now from the top outlet. I figure that at 200k, it's probably time for a new one. I see that many people are happy with radiatorbarn, so I think I'll go that route, but here's my question:

I want to move up to the 3 row for the 3.0L. The website lists the measurements as 15-3/4 x 20-11/16 x 2-1/16. The stock 2 row for my '83 has dimensions 14-3/4 x 20-11/16 x 1-5/16. I went out and took some measurements under the hood. It looks like I'll have no prob with the extra 3/4" of thickness for the 3 row, but I'm concerned about the height. I'm afraid the extra 1" will hit the cross brace at the front of the frame. Anyone have experience with this? Am I looking at the right 3 row radiator?

Not sure on using the 3.0 radiator, but you can try a 22RET (turbo) radiator. That is what I put in my '85 and it was an exact fit for the old 2-row radiator, aside from the added thickness:

Roger, the link to the Go Dan website is a dead end. I did a google for them and couldn't find the website either. Did you buy yours direct?

Do know the current URL. You might try some of these lonks.

I got the radiator at a local radiator shop, of all places.

I used the 3 row (PN CSF2306) from radiatorbarn.com for the 4runner... dropped right in... no problems whatsoever... if you have questions, call em 866.723.7237 <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
