I guess the '83s are a little different with the crossmember and what not. I have plenty of room to fit mine in the '85. On the '85, there is a removeable part of the fan shroud on the bottom that allows for easier installation, also the shroud is plastic. It is a tighter fit, for sure, but the additional cooling is nice.
