Had pretty good luck with my BFG MT's although the tread blocks are all gouged up for rocks and stuff.
I'll probably go with another tire like a swamper later on.

What kind of mileage are you guys gettin out of the mt/r's? I was thinking about 'em for my next set of tires, but I do alot of street driving as well.

My last set of tires were BFG MTs. I switched to Bridgestone Dueller All Terrain, thinking I would gain in gas mileage and still have a fairly aggressive tire. I noticed almost no difference in MPG. Still about 16.5MPG. I think Ill switch back to BFG MT on the next go round. 92 V6 3.0 truck

How do you like them so far? Any wheeling on them yet? Do you put lots of miles on your rig? My brother's got the same tires on his Jeep and he likes them so far, but they are really soft to drive on the streets.

BFG muds will last 35k-40k miles on 99% pavement driving. Just compare that to your miles on the MTRs and judge whether the extra money for the MTRs is worth it. I have also had sidewall issues with BFG KO and BFG Touring passenger car tires.

For what it's worth, my 33 12.5 BFG KM muds have lasted a LONG time. I've got just shy of 70,000 miles on them and expect to make it until the winter. They aren't bald-they are wearing close to the limit markers though. A significant portion of my driving is on asphalt and when I do wheel, it's not normally what many would consider to be 'hardcore' at all. My truck is also locked out back...

70k miles on mud tires... Honest!

Anyone run Toyo Open Country M/T's? guys have one on a lifted super duty and they're some nice lookin tires, any of you try them?>

Know a couple of people who are running them. They seem to wear great and the one 4Runner that I rode in, the Toyo MTÆs were as quiet as my BFG ATÆs. I have to get new tires in the next few weeks and thatÆs what IÆm looking to get. They are just a little wider and 20 lbs heavier than MT/R (35x13.50x15). IÆm just wondering if itÆs going to be ok running them on my IFS until I can do the frame swap next year. IÆm currently running 33Æs with 10ö rims now.

there are no such thing as KO muds. there are bfg all terrain KO'S but no mud terrain KO's. i heard the mtr's are really soft and dont last very long but i havent used them. my last set of bfg's lasted a very long time.

Goes to show, don't believe everything you hear, then.

As stated above, my MT/Rs outlasted my BFG MTs by a long shot. Not quick wearers for an aggressive tread. Unless you think 35K-38K miles is short life for an aggressive tire. The spare I run now is one of the old ones, still serviceable.

Of course, ATs will wear longer. Take your pick.

FWIW, I did have a problem with out-of-roundness on this new set. Goodyear replaced them, cautioning me they were 'off-road tires' and not to expect them to be perfectly round, etc. etc. and 'just this once...'. I just wanted them as round as my last set. Funny, the replacement tires were perfectly round.

Oh, and MT/Rs cost me LESS or EQUAL to what BFGs would have. Shop around.

Another tire to look into is Firestone Destination M/Ts. I have two friends who tried them, got SMOKIN' deals due to Firestone wanting to rebuild their reputation, and really like their low noise and good off-road performance. Another option. Hint: always be ready to walk away from the deal. The Firestone fella will likely chase you down.

Right now, I'm leaning toward BFG mud, but I would like to hear about the Yokohama Geolander M/T.
price wise, the BFG is the cheapest. 170
Yokohama Geolander M/t is 180
Toyo Open country MT is 233

Mt/r is more than that.
