The AAP only affects the truck when cold. it absicaly squirts a little more gas in the intake when you step on the throttle. Doesn't do anything once its warmed up.

If you haven't tinkered wiht any adjsutment screws, sounds to me like your idle jet may be clogged? Try what I said above for cleaning out the carb.

Well Scerb, I took the carb to be rebuild. The mech. had trouble with the choke and couldn't adjust. It's as if the spring is weak. I installed the carb. today and runs great but still has some trouble starting after it sits for a few hrs. Choke stays open.

Sounds like your getting close My choke coil thingy is weak too, I'm just waiting for the first blizzard to deal with it If thats the case, you probably need to replace the choke assembly. Pretty easy.. probably have to take carb off again, not sure though I haven't tried it yet.

I can have my carb off in 15min from popping the hood in single digit temperatures using snow for penetrant on teh rust Thats what happens when you have to "re"-re-build your carb four times in a day.... during a snowstorm..

In the mean time until you get a new choke, if it doesn't start after a few seconds, pump the gas while you crank and it should start up fine if its not freezing,, literally. Probably will have to replace choke by winter though, I know I will..

Can that be purchased new or ??? The truck is in East Texas so the cold weather doesn't happen often. It hasn't froze in nearly 2 yrs but we have Rita coming.
