I am looking for a good link for general information about Trooper models, such as they came stock from the factory. Would like info like engines offered, hp ratings, transmissions and transfercase information, gear ratio's, that kind of stuff. I know from my '89 Owner's Manual that it has 4.55 gears, if it had the alum. rims and 31's it would of came with 4.88's. I hear talk of a 200 hp v6, when did they come out with that? Just what to get up to speed on how these things came equiped so I can play around with ideas in my head ...

I have similar info for Rodeo's, Amigo's, ROdeo-sports here:
http://users4.ev1.net/%7Esanaghan/main/Vehicle/Index.htm
Some might be the same, but you'd have to already know what's what to understand that.

Best reference I can think of is ITOG--Isuzu Troopers Owners Guild. They're like the Thieves Guild from Dungeons and Dragons, only without the dungons (unless you count dark garages) or dragons.

They do have theiving (ideas). And giant treasure chests full of gold. (Coolers full of beer)

troopers never had 4.88 gears.

Generally, if it's a gen1 trooper with 15" "snowflake" rims, then it has 4.77 gears.

gen1 troopers never had 200hp.

gen1 RS "shorty" troopers (1989 only) all had 4cyl engines with 4.77 gears

all gen1 troopers with rear disc brakes have Isuzu 12-bolt rears and isuzu 10-bolt front axles. All drum-brake troopers have the same 10-bolt in back with isuzu 8-bolt front axles.

Yep, I was thinking Toyota gears,,
Looked again and it says 4.777 : 1
with(31x10.5r15)

About the 200 hp's, I wanted to know "when" they
were an engine opt. being's how I am new to the
Trooper group.
When did the gen1 end and the gen2 end?
Which engines were in Gen2?
That is the info I was looking for to research in a linK.

Some people have claimed up to 200 HP for a 3.4 replacement for the 2.8, but I am very sceptical. The GM performance 3.4 is rated at 160 hp. A 25% increase through intake mods and a mild, mid-range cam is beyond my imagination.

I would guess that a very fresh GM performance 3.4 with Holley or 4.3 TBI, even with roller rockers MIGHT get to 175-180 horse, but that is a huge increase over the stock 2.8 at 130.
