Ive had this leak for about a year, and it just went from a very occasional drip to pooling every time I park this month. Here is a pic from the underside.

I can't see any thing from the top of the engine, but I've never taken off the intake assembly. I can't see where it is coming from past the oilpan, but notice how half the oilpan is wet. It seems to puke all over the place when the water level is where it's supposed to be, but if I let it leak out it tapers off.

I've read about the O-rings in the water distribution pipes in the valley, but I dont know how to check if they are the problem. I have also read about the water pump leaking (I'm at 125k on the original), and I tried to change it this summer but couldn't get the crankshaft pulley nut off, so it's still a potential problem. I really need to fix this soon, it's getting out of hand.

Kinda looks like the waterpump, really hard to tell. If its not had a timing belt it would be a good time to check it out while your in there. IMHO

On the Amigo, I can pull that front skid plate off with a couple of bolts. Can you? Might make it easier to figure out where it's coming from.

[color:"white"]? 04 Rodeo DI ?[/color] 75k mi, body damage on the 1st weekend I got it.

I agree with Mike on the water pump, but it could also be something different. My 96 Rodeo was leaking from a coolant hose that is on top of the engine. Its located on the top kinda in between the V of the cylinder banks. Its insanely hard to get to, the part cost like 3 bucks, but it takes forever to get to it. But, i would put my money on the water pump. 124k on a water pump sounds like a bit much.
HTH,
William

Can't help you on the leak, I'm not familiar with the V6's...

However, here is a tip to remove the crank bolt or nut. Use a breaker bar and brace it against the chassis or something, then "click" your starter. Just a little "click" should free it up...

He tried that ... remember, Bob Dole is the guy who BROKE a half inch extension trying to get that bolt out! I think that gorilla from the Samsonite commercials must have gotten a new job.

Oops I forgot about that! Well, there's always 1" extensions...

I vote for the water pump or a hose...at least something up front and more easily accessible than the coolant pipe that lies deep down in the "V".
When this pipe was leaking on my RS, the leak was always at the rear of the engine, after the little "channels" of the "V" filled up with coolant. I never saw any coolant near the front side of the engine. YMMV.

Ok, this makes me feel a little better. I really didn't want to mess with those O rings in the cylinder valley. The water pump would make sense, it is right above about where the leak is. Now I just have to figure out how to get that crankshaft pulley nut off.

I hate that thing.
