Getting the Wheeling Fever
300+ sounds like a lot of $$, especially from pull-n-save(DENVER). I helped my buddy pull one this summer for a d60,he paid around $40. That 300 sounds like a price from yotayard. They will gouge your eyes out. I see 4.88 3rd's for <$150 every so often on PBB or colorado4x4. Id buy some used 3rd's(30$ea.), buy new Yukon 5.29s($170), then ship them to ZUK ($150ea.) Thats $350-$400 per chunk but well worth it. Do it right the first time. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

They want $400 each for them up here; as-is, where-is.
It's why we call 'em junkyard pirates. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/evil.gif" alt="" />

Body Damage is Cool
i paid $300 for a 4.88 diff from a junkyard over the net, sight unseen. however, it was out of a '95 4runner with 38,000 miles! i could still see a faint bit of the factory red gear paint on the ring gear!

the 4.88 factory diffs are strong, but the gearsets are expensive as nobody makes a replacement besides toyota. the main difference is the 3rd member itself, it offsets the carrier(which should be a standard V6 carrier) differently than a standard V6 3rd, which allowed them to use a thin ring gear and big pinion.
