MMMM- White smoke. I once had an "O" go bad in a Chrys. product speedometer cable housing, and it pumped a mist of transmission oil up to the speedometer causing white smoke. Just a thought.

I should add that the smell was what gave it away. More like burning oil then an electrical fire.
