pics to come tomorrow. why i am posting this now you ask? because i need to replace all the ball joints. theyre ripped. (or just the boots?) i was going to have the truck aligned tomorrow morning but i was wondering if i should wait till after i pull the bumpstops and replace/repair them. i flipped the BJs and added spacers which are too aid in correcting camber, so...i figured that any messing with the ball joints must be cause for alignemenet again. is this correct?

hopefully someone can reply by early morning so ill know if i should wait or not. thanks in advance

Body Damage is Cool
yeah I'd wait until you replace the ball joints. Just to be sure that the alignment doesn't change after tearing down part of the front sus.

here are the pics. sorry about the crappy quality but my digital camera was recently stolen so i used my camcorder's built in dig cam. also didnt get to wash it before taking the pics but the pics are too low of quality to really notice anyhow.

i didnt remember to take measurements till after i already had the rear jacked up and the wheels off by then, i had already gone through enough bs just to get the project started

next step: im thinking of having the chrome center caps that came with the rims powdercoated black, depending on how much that will cost. im also thinking of changing that horrible two-tone tan to either black or dark green using Herculiner. any thoughts?

Black spray paint can be had as cheap as $.88 a can, or closer to $2 for the 'hammered' finish stuff. IMHO, powdercoating center caps is overkill. Good looking Troop

Black or green would be a vast improvement to that two-tone mallcrawler tan getup

deffinately looks better with the black rims and real tires

I painted my bumper sliders and skid plate with the black hammered finish spray paint. I would also say that powdercoating those caps is quite a bit overkill. If spraypaint gets scratched..... another can is only $4

what is hammered spray paint? and how the heck do i prep those caps? i dont think i can just sand them..

has anyone painted this two tone junk using a rattle can or some sort? any suggestions for that? taking it to a paint shop is not an option. im looking for cheap but decent looking.

I think the hammered paint is made by rust-oleum. Just go to the spray can section of a store and look for a textured cap. The hammered paint is pretty cool if you put it on a few good coats of it.
You could buy some roll on bed liner from a store that would protect those plastic fender flares. Its usually about $100 a can as far as I know. I have a friend with a jeep that bedlined the interior and covered the exterior pannels over the wheel wells. IT looks great and its really burly.

They also sell the Dura-liner stuff by the can, it's like $6 a can. I did the roof rack on my parent's Suburban with the stuff. Looks pretty good too! that would be the way I would go . with the stuff in the can.
BTW very nice looking Troop!!!
