Getting the Wheeling Fever

I recenty cleaned up my solenoid and noticed an wire that I didn't see when I pulled the starter. I only disconnected the large cable from the battery and the small clip on connector. When I had the starter off I noticed a black wire with a female spade connector. Put everything back and the truck starts and runs fine. Any ideas what this wire is?

Hand me that crowbar.
