did you try to trace the wire and find out wear it goes? that would be a good start. there are 4 wires that go in that area on my 92. on goes to the knock sensorand then there is a sensor that is at bout 2 o'clock from the starter and you cant really see it unless you look for abouve between the intake and valve cover, near the fuel filter. and than afcourse the power wire and sensor wire on the starter. i have personally broken the 2 o'clock wire so been there done that. also there is a ground wire to the front of the block but it is a larger gauge wire. the wire that run to the tranny transfer case run right abouve the starter as well.
