My '90 (built vin Dec. '89), also wasn't part of the recalled HG's. It was also in a head on accident in '92, actuall I "T'd" a car that swirved in front of me. The cost to fiix it was just over $11k, the insurance wanted to total it. Since I wouldn't have recouped enough money to put me back in one of the same year/value, I forced the insurance to fix it. The main problem other than hood, bumper, grill, and right fender, was a bent frame behind the right front wheel. The bent frame is common with these rigs in a front end collision. It could be that the owner didn't fight with the insurance and just let them total it for the bent frame. A buddy of mine bought an '86 that was Salvaged for the same thing. As long as the cab is original(no piecing in of the upper from a roll-over), a salvaged title on these rigs are fine.
