-from 2004 to the present- 45451-34010

Thanks alot!

So I wonder if Toyota will tell me if the recall relay rod is actually physically different from the 2004 relay rod? We all know the 2004 relay rod is beefier than the original (1995 in my case) rod.

Or did they just change the PN for the sake of the recall work?

One thought is that perhaps they included additional parts with the new 04005-01134...maybe cotter pins. I forget what /if any extra parts were needed.

Here are some side by side pics of my relay rod that was new in the Spring of 2004 and the one I put on a few days ago that is part of the current Special Service Campaign.

they look to be the same? but it could be hard to judge from pix. how did they compare while in hand?

the 1995 version was obviously less beefy than the 2004 rev.

but the 2005 rev doesn't jump out as different than the 2004 rev.

i still have not heard from toyota regarding my reimbursement for the 2004 relay rod. they claim it could take 1 month for a reply. i wonder if they will tell me i still need the recall 2005 rod.
thanks.

They look almost identical except for a cleaner casting line or rib on the new one.

just got off the phone with main toyota. they spoke to their parts specialists, and stated that the service campaign relay rod is stronger than the 2004 relay rod. looks identical for the most part, but they claim it is made of different metal. so it seems toyota has really been slow (took two design revisions) to get this part right.

totally bummed that i should get the rod replaced. i despise dealership service. maybe i'll just buy the part and do it myself.

Body Damage is Cool

I imagine you could probably get the part for free (after signing some sort of release of liability) if you really don't want them touching your rig...
