i was just curious what anyone that has a 3.0 with an automatic is getting for gas mileage. Saw a low mileage 1990s 4unner that I might be interested in. But EPA mileage is 14/16. Geeezzz! Is it really that low? I hoping to get closer to 20, at least on the highway.

ouch!
I'm still 18-19 on the freeway with my 5100lb truck on 35" tires and my old tired 22RE.
Man, if I start adding weight to something like that I can imagine the mileage really heading south. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> Maybe not such good idea.
Its a '94 and if came with factory 4.88s that would be a big plus to me. I wouldn't be looking at major mods. Mostly a daily driver. Something that I can use to explore in when my "overkill" truck isn't needed.

Brian, Those mileage figures are about right...YMMV of course. I consistently got 16.5 city and 18.5-19 mpg highway with my V6 5-speed with 32" tires, but the manuals are known to pull better mileage numbers.

My sisters '95 V6 auto Runner was getting about 12/14 with 31's and 4.56's. I got here to shift down to L2 around town, and L1 when in rush hour traffic, which bumped her city mpg up about 1-2 mpg. She went to a 30" tire and gained another 1mpg. At best she gets 15 in the city and 16/17 on the highway. Still not as good as my heavier rig w/5-spd., and it is still really gutless.
More than tread lightly. Leave it like you were never there, nor anyone else. '90 X-cab 4.88's 33 BFG AT's, rr ARB, Headers, Ignition upgrade, cold air induction. '91 X-cab 5.29's 315's BFG MT's, rr ARB, custom bumper and flatbed

My ext-cab pickup with 3.0/auto gets about 13 city and 16 highway and has since 1993. It has remained constant through 3 gearing changes, a 4-5" suspension lift, a 1" body lift, and tire changes (31"-33"). The best it has ever gotten was 17-18 range but that was at high elevation in Colorado (thin air has less wind resistance).
93 4X4 ext-cab, auto, SR5, 3.4 V6, supercharged, 2.1" pulley, URD fuel mods, Aquamist WI, IPT valve body mod, dual cases, 4" superlift, Alcan springs, 33 BFG MT, ARB locked front & rear, 5.29 US Gears, RB 1" BL, 1.5" BJ spacers, TJM T-17, Warn m8000.
