Good idea, Ray - thanks. I had been hearing a ticking ever since 500 miles on the rebuild and was resigned to pulling the driver side head and replacing the lash adjusters, thinking I had gotten some trash in one, When I got to the first trail in Colorado I stopped to air down the rear and heard the engine missing pretty badly through the exhaust pipe. I thought "Oh, no", but when I raised the hood there was the unmistakable sound of ignition snap and I knew it was either the coil arcing or a plug wire, so I shut it down and started checking. I found 4 plug wires loose, with some of the boots completely off of the plug and lying in the heat shield beside the plug. I don't know how it was even running. When I plugged them all back in, what I had thought was valve ticking completely stopped. Curious, I started unplugging them one-by-one until I found the noise I was looking for - the #6 plug firing sounds exactly like a valve tick when it's arcing inside the boot.

Anyway, I'll try your suggestion and call Magnecor. It'd be a shame to junk these purty red wires.... how could I pose without them?

Apologies for the hijack..... maybe I should start a new post on how to easily solve the valve ticking in 3.0Ls.
