Its time to change oil on the 4JB1tc in my Jeep again and I would like to get a part # for an aftermarket oil filter.
When I first installed the engine I bought some Isuzu filters from an industrial dealer in the US but now those are gone and I would like to just pick them up locally.
No one can find a number for a 2.8 since they were not imported to Canada.
Does anyone have an aftermarket # ??

Ahhh, this is something I've been thinking about as well, as the time draws near when I'll have to drain & replace the oil in my 4JB1-TC.

I've been planning on taking the old one down to the local parts warehouse (not one of those national chains, but a distribution house for a bunch of local stores - they've got lots & lots of parts...) to try and cross-reference the number or just match it up with something.

Would you mind posting the info you've got on the Isuzu numbers (and maybe where you got them)?

Is this the 3.0 tdi motor or the 2.8td? got workshop manual for them if you require.

It's the 2.8l TD. I've found some part numbers from New Zealand/Australia here: http://home.exetel.com.au/justshtml/html/CLUBISUZUSITE/mu_parts.html

I'll see if I can cross-reference any of these this weekend.

After calling about these numbers, I was unable to get any cross-referenced. Maybe someone else will have more luck..

I'd definitely like to get that Isuzu number you've got, as it seems I'll need it. Or, if it's different from the Isuzu number on the link I posted, maybe we can cross-reference that?

How odd... any of those filter can be bought at any auto parts store here.... I had a dig around on the fram site, (www.fram.com) but no joy there either. Maybe there is a market to export some from New Zealand to American 4JB1 owners? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

HI ADRIAN , CAN YOU GET A COUPLE OF MEASUREMENTS FROM AN OLD 4JB1 OIL FILTER I FOUND 4 FILTERS I HAVE HERE BUT 2 OF THEM ARE FOR AN 85 AND 2 ARE FOR 90 91 VERSION AND THE GASKET S ARE DIFFERENT DIAMETERS ALSO IS THAT FILTER THE DUAL STAGE WITH THE CENTER PIPE IN WHERE IT SCREWS ON TO THE ENG, I MAY HAVE THE STANDARD OIL FILTER IF IT IS WHAT I THNIK IT IS , IT LOOKS LIKE THE SAME FILTER THAT THE OLD 4FB1 ENG USE D, IF YOU CAN GET ME A FEW SPECS I WILL BE GLAD TO CHECK IT OUT FORYOU THE 4FB1 HAD 2 DIFF FILTERS ALSO SINGLE STAGE AND DUAL STAGE ALSO THE THREAD SIZE IF YOU CAN ,, JERRY

I finally had to order from an Isuzu Industrial engine dealer.
The part # he sent was a 8-97049708-1.
It spun right on but was $17ca + $12 shipping! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
The dimensions are : 18mm hole
80mm gasket center, 100mm tall, 90mm dia.

Well now that I have the Isuzu # my local parts store was able to cross it to a Fram PH 3985 for $7.50.
I have a spare Isuzu filter so next trip to town I will do a physical comparison to the Fram.
