Getting the Wheeling Fever
Seeing as how I'm one of many recently dealing with a head gasket repair due to a bad rebuild ('89 3.0 liter)... I thought this question would have come up, but I couldn't find it through a thread search.

Question is:

Should I use a sealant on the head bolts like Fel-Pro Gray or Moly Lube? The Shop manual doesn't seem to mention it, and Haynes manual says to lightly oil the head bolts and install. I did try the trick of filling/soaking the bolt holes with Berryman before retapping (mentioned in previous post) and noticed some had "drained" out after an hour... making me thing some are open to water passages. Any thoughts? If I was to use sealant, does this affect torque values? It seems that getting the proper torque on these bolts is critical, so I want to do what's right.

Thanks for the info!

No,
sealant will mess up the torque readings. And the bottoms of the holes should be closed...
