Unless you're really really short on cash, it's worth it to replace the entire halfshaft unit. I changed just the boots once, and 75% of the process was the disassembly, cleaning, and reassembly of the units, not to mention the approximately 80,000 shop rags which ended up being soaked in grease, and I had to wash by hand... multiple times.
